Ensure your modern calligraphy is evenly spaced and parallel with this downloadable practice paper that you can print at home or use in Procreate.
The x-height (size of a lower case x) is 3.5mm when printed at 100%. The slant lines are 50° - slightly more relaxed than the 55° of traditional copperplate calligraphy.
This practice paper is the same as you receive in my printed worksheets set, and is the same as the background on my basic strokes and alphabet worksheets.
Guide to use: Print at home on high quality, bleed-proof paper. I recommend HP ColorChoice 120gsm, which you can buy from Amazon and Staples. The dotted line is the x-height. The dashed lines are the ascender and descender lines - the tallest and lowest points of your capitals, and letters like 'h' and 'g' should be within these lines.
I would love to see the practice paper being used out in the real world. Tag me on instagram - @samslittlestudio - and use the hashtag #samslittleworksheets!
